The Department of Cultural Promotion is entrusted with the
task to promote and preserve Thai culture by means of conservation,
restoration and protection of intangible cultural heritage.
The publication of this booklet entitled “Songkran Tradition” is a
part of the publishing activities in order to pass on history, essence,
cultural values and guidelines of Songkran celebrations to both Thai
people and friends of Thailand.
On behalf of the Department of Cultural Promotion, I hope
that the information contained in this booklet will assist you in
understanding the origins and valuable traditions of Songkran.
