ลักษณะทางพฤกษศาสตร์

เป็นชมพู่พันธุ์ดั้งเดิมของไทย มีถิ่นก�ำเนิดในภูมิภำคอินโด-มำลำยัน ในประเทศไทยพบได้ทั่วทุกภำค มีควำมสูงของต้น
ประมำณ ๑๐ เมตร เปลือกต้นค่อนข้ำงเรียบเป็นสีน�้ำตำล ใบเป็นใบเดี่ยว ออกเรียงตรงข้ำมกันเป็นคู่ ออกดอกเป็นช่อกระจะ
โดยจะออกที่ปลำยกิ่งมีดอกย่อยประมำณ ๓ - ๘ ดอก กลีบดอกบำงเป็นสีขำวหรือสีเหลืองอ่อน ฐำนรองดอกมีลักษณะเป็นรูปกรวย
ดอกมีเกสรเพศผู้จ�ำนวนมำก ผลเป็นผลเดี่ยว มีลักษณะเกือบกลม ดูคล้ำยกับลูกจันสีเหลือง ปลำยผลมีกลีบเลี้ยงติด ๔ กลีบ ภำยใน
ผลกลวง ผลมีกลิ่นหอมคล้ำยกับดอกนมแมว ผลดิบเป็นสีเขียวเข้ม เมื่อสุกจะเป็นสีเขียวอ่อนหรือสีเหลืองทอง เนื้อด้ำนในบำง
เป็นสีขำวนวลหรือสีเขียวอ่อน ส่วนเมล็ดเป็นสีน�้ำตำลและมีขนำดใหญ่ โดยจะเริ่มออกผลในช่วงปลำยฤดูหนำว ประมำณเดือนธันวำคม

ถึงเดือนเมษำยน ขยำยพันธุ์ด้วยวิธีกำรเพำะเมล็ดและตอนกิ่ง เจริญเติบโตได้ดีในดินที่มีควำมชื้นพอเหมำะ ชอบแสงแดดส่องถึง
แบบเต็มวัน ให้ผลหลังกำรปลูกประมำณ ๒ ปี คุณประโยชน์ ผลใช้ปรุงเป็นยำชูก�ำลัง และเป็นยำบ�ำรุงหัวใจ เปลือก ต้น และเมล็ด
มีสรรพคุณเป็นยำแก้เบำหวำน แก้ท้องเสีย ใบมีสรรพคุณเป็นยำลดไข้แก้ตำอักเสบ ใบสดใช้ต�ำพอกรักษำโรคผิวหนัง

Botanical characteristics
It is a traditional Thai rose apple tree that originated in the Indo - Malayan region. It can be found in every region across Thailand. The height
of the tree is about 10 meters. The bark is quite smooth and brown with single leaves arranged in opposite in pairs. The flowers bloom at the end of
the branch with about 3 - 8 flowers. The petals are light in white or light - yellow color. The Receptacle is in a conical shape. The flower has many
stamens. The fruit is a simple fruit in almost round shape and looks like a gold apple. There are four sepals attached to the fruit. Inside the fruit is
hollow. The fruit smells like a Rauwenhoffia siamensis. The raw fruit is dark green. When it is ripe, the fruit becomes light green or golden yellow.
The flesh inside is thin and white or light green. The seeds are brown and large. The tree will begin to bear fruits in late winter around December to
April. It is propagated by seeds and grafting. It grows well in well - moistened soil with full day sunlight. It bears fruit about two years after planting.
The fruit is used as a tonic and a heart tonic. The bark, stem and seeds can be used as a remedy for diabetes and diarrhea. The leaves can be used
as an antipyretic and anti-inflammatory eye. The pounded fresh leaves are used to treat skin diseases.
