Department of Cultural Promotion
The Department of Cultural Promotion following the Minister of Culture’s policy has produced
this book to promote knowledge of culture, ways of life and wisdom for the general public to
understand and become aware of importance of culture.
It is extensively known that Thailand is a country of cultural diversity. People living in different
regions have their unique ways of life – owing to the ingenuity of Thai ancestors for utilizing their
wisdom to live in harmony with nature.
The content of the “Culture, Ways of Life and Wisdom” book is divided into 6 chapters:
Prologue; Precious Tradition and Ways of Life; Performing Arts and Spiritual Performance;
Thai Craftsmanship; Thai Cuisine and Lifestyle; and Thai Folk Games and Sports. Each chapter
showcases a unique story covering every region of Thailand, for interested people to visualize
the importance of the varieties.
The Department of Cultural Promotion hopes this book will be useful for promotion patriotic
love and pride among Thai people.
