Participatory Innovations to Revitalize the
Wisdom of Pleng Korat Performance
on Pleng Korat Prosody

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to study the knowledge of the structure and prosody of
Pleng Korat performance and to develop innovations for the revitalization of the structure
and prosody of Pleng Kora. A qualitative research methodology and participatory research
process by interviewing were employed. The sample of 30 people was interviewed with
an in-depth interview and a discussion group consisting of 6 Korat poetry teachers was
used to gather information for the development, experimentation and acceptance of the
innovation. The prosody scheme of Pleng Korat performance was followed up from the
workshop activities to disseminate and restore the knowledge of the prosody of Pleng
Korat performance. The workshop participants included 24 representatives from Korat
poetry associations. The results of the research are as follows.
The participatory innovation development process consisted of 4 main steps :
(1) participation in thinking and decision-making : (2) participation in implementation :
(3) participation in gaining knowledge and being impacted and : (4) participation in following up
and building acceptance. The innovations developed include the innovation scheme which
consists of : (1) the scheme consisting of two pairs of words : (2) the prosody scheme chart
of Pleng Korat for rhyme and back up words : (3) the prosody chart of Pleng Korat and :
(4) analytical example of the structure chart and prosody of Pleng Korat. This innovation
is classified as a learning material through mutual recognition from stakeholders from the
successor of the Pleng Korat performing wisdom legacy. It can be used as disseminating
knowledge and as a learning center to inherit Pleng Korat performing wisdom so that
Pleng Korat performance can be truly sustainable.
