     The Somtow Method
     is a new approach to music education that emphasizes the question
โ€œWhyโ€ rather than the question โ€œHow.โ€ Itโ€™s a holistic approach that teaches
music through its context, including history, psychology, and culture.
     It consists of coming to terms with five basic concepts: โ€œthe five Csโ€ -
Chaos, Connection, Complication, Context, and Courage - in order to encourage
young people to become individuals, and explore their creativity.
     My message to creative artists is that you need to follow five steps.
     1.	You must have something to say.
     2.	You must actually say the thing you have to say.
     3.	You must spend as much time as it takes to study the techniques of
your art so that when you do (2) the audience will actually receive (1)
     4.	You must tell the truth no matter what the cost - this is the price of
being an artist.
     5.	Fear nothing. In the moment of creativity, yours is the only mind in
the entire universe that contains the exact thought you are expressing. If you
do not say it, it will never be said.
