Baan Roy-Sao Cultural Yard, Tambon Takien-Tia
โ€Passing on of the Thai Culture, in the performing art of antiphonal singing (Lum-Tud)
and the long drum dance, promoting the good culture of the villageโ€
The relatives of Baan Nongplub, who used to live together in the past, have sustainably passed
on the culture, the way of life, the tradition of beliefs for the past 150 years. However, the absorption from
one generation to another, will gradually disappear if there were not the retention and development of the
local people. From the governmental study of the operational methods together with the Administration
Organization for Special District Development and Sustainable Tourism (a public organization), they agreed
to the way of practice of the local people of Tambon Takien-Tia, Amphur Bang Lamoong, Chon Buri, who
could still, locally, inherit their wisdom, continuously and systematically developed and promoted by
family members, resulting in the local development and good example to the society. The community
could thus manage tourism in the correct manners and in the right directions.
The Narration
Baan Roy-Sao: the way to durability. Baan Roy-Sao is a Thai-style twin house with a lifted-up
basement. It was built more than 80 years ago with 120 pillars. On the upper floor, rare ancient tools and
equipment are exhibited like the ancient โ€Khoi long bookโ€ - a heritage of Baan Roy-Sao, for instance. The
โ€Khoi long bookโ€ contains the Therapeutic text book, the Thai Astrology text book, the Year of the Zodiac,
the Auspicious Days for auspicious occasions, the Horoscope of a Soul Mate.
The Moral Value - the Owner of the Culture
Baan Roy-Sao is on a 6-acre land. Every square-metre of it is fully utilised: growing edible plants
for the kitchen, herbs for their medicinal properties, Taiwanese bamboo and sweet bamboo wherein the
shoots can be sold all-year-round. There is garbage management in order to decrease the garbage volume,
generating revenue from garbage sorting. Furthermore, trash from fruits, vegetables and leaves is turned
into bio-fermented water. All things around self are applied for maximal benefits and for durability.
